Description
In the 16th century, a number of ironworks were founded in Finland. The large forest areas of the Pohja region, with unapplied hydropower and good waterways, was an optimal hub for the Finnish iron industry. The iron mills in Antwoods were founded around 1630, followed by Billnäs in 1641. Founded in 1649, Fiskars is one of the oldest companies in the Western world.
